Why this dilemma matters
In close relationships, the kindest choice and the truest choice rarely overlap perfectly. Choosing “Raccontare la verità, onorando il valore dell'onestà e il diritto della persona di sapere” prioritises who you want to be for them; choosing “Mantenere il segreto, rispettando la privacy altrui ed evitando di causare sofferenza non richiesta” gives more weight to who you actually are.
