A bill would ban all social-media access for under-16s, enforced by ID. It would protect some kids and lock out others who use these platforms to find communities they need.

Why this dilemma matters

Every new capability quietly removes a previous choice — the question is whether that trade is worth it. Choosing “Pass it. The default for minors should be protection, not access” prioritises what the system makes easy; choosing “Block it. The kids who need the platforms most will lose them first” gives more weight to what it makes invisible.

Worth asking yourself

  • What would you give up to keep this capability?
  • Who benefits from this, and who absorbs the risk?
