Why this dilemma matters
These dilemmas put rules and circumstances against each other and demand a verdict. Choosing “Treat them immediately — their current need is real, regardless of how they got here” prioritises the letter of the law; choosing “Return them to their fair place — the system only works if no one is above it” gives more weight to the spirit behind it.
