Why this dilemma matters
These dilemmas put rules and circumstances against each other and demand a verdict. Choosing “Shut it down — artists' consent cannot be traded for social good, no matter the outcome” prioritises the letter of the law; choosing “Keep it running — the measurable benefit to future artists outweighs unconsented past use” gives more weight to the spirit behind it.
